This project shows you how to construct a simple DC motor by making use of electromagnetic principles. It will demonstrate what happens when a wire carrying current is placed in a magnetic field. Anyone who has knowledge of the principles of electromagnetism will be able to see the equations in action. Nevertheless, the experience is equally valuable for those in lower division science classes; they will be able to experiment with different constructions, and eventually discover why one method worked better than another.
