Breakout Boards and AccessoriesBreakout boards make an electronic component easier to use. Components in a tight configuration or with a lot of pins are "broken out" into an easier to use layout that is typically breadboard-friendly. Some break out boards combine several components making the main object, like a Real Time Clock or memory card adapter, easier to use. FTDI breakout boards take the USB-to-Serial converter chip and associated capacitors and resistors off the main Arduino board to reduce components and allow for smaller Arduinos.
The newest revision of the FTDI Basic. This Solarbotics 50512 board now uses a SMD 6-pin header on the bottom, which makes it smaller and more compact.
The DFR0065 is a basic breakout board for the FTDI FT232RL USB to serial IC. Pinouts match the FTDI cable to work with official Arduino and cloned 3.3V Arduino boards. It can also be used for general serial applications.
A great battery-backed real time clock (RTC) that allows your microcontroller project to keep track of time even if it is reprogrammed or if the power is lost. It's perfect for data logging, time stamping and clock-building.
This DFR0071 SD card shield allows you to add mass storage and data logging to your projects. Contains a switch to select the flash card slot and it sits directly on the Arduino microcontroller board.
