IQ Answer = The first working transistor

In 1947 William Shockley and Gerald Pearson built for AT&T's Bell Labs what had previously been the theoretical design of a working transistor. Silicon was still seven years away turning this example into just a work of art.

Transistors are the basic building block of intergrated circuits. They are a semiconductor device that regulates current and voltage. They have three connections and consist three layers of semiconductor material. Capable of amplification and rectification. They start, stop and control current.
