Electronic circuit symbols are used for drawing schematic diagrams. The symbols below represent electrical and electronic components. Here are the answers to our circuit symbol quiz.

SPDT Switch

This symbol represents a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch, which selects between two connections in a circuit.A switch breaks, interrupts, or diverts the current from one conductor to another.

POT

A potentiometer is an adjustable resistor with three terminals in a circuit drawing. A "pot" provides a variable resistance.

Photodiode

This symbol represents a photodiode, which allows current flow only when exposed to light. It converts visible electromagnetic radiation (light) into either current or voltage.

MOSFET

A MOSFET transistor is used to amplify and switch electronic signals and power. It uses an electric field to control the flow of electrons and shapes the conductivity of a channel. MOSFET = metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor
