CoasterBot Contest

We challenged you to design a robot using a coaster (CD or DVD) as the development platform, or main body component. The bot had to be able to navigate space, avoid obstacles and display an extra sensing system. From there, originality and innovation guided the designers to create the coolest bots ever! The designers had a blast designing and building, and the Jameco team had lots of fun judging the videos. Here are the top three entries and a few other favorites.

FIRST PRIZE: THE TERMINATOR from Eric of Torrance, California

The Terminator

The Terminator is a BASIC Stamp 2E controlled-wheeled chassis that uses a laser sensor to locate targets and a servo-based gun to knock them out with rubber bands.

SECOND PRIZE: THE GUARD DOG from Sebastian of Romania

This bot MOVES and takes in all its surroundings, The Guard Dog employs ultrasonic range sensors for long range obstacles and IR sensors for close range and small objects.
