Network Administrator

Jameco Electronics, a leading distributor of electronic components located in Belmont, CA, is seeking an experienced System and Network Administrator to join our IT team. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, plus a thorough knowledge of networking, server hardware and software, and user administration in a Microsoft environment. Working under the general supervision of the Director of IT, the Network Administrator is responsible for managing all aspects of the IT infrastructure at Jameco.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows servers
  • Installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network equipment
  • Configuration, deployment, and maintenance of desktop PCs and printers
  • User administration
  • User support and training
  • Problem troubleshooting and resolution/escalation
  • Security
  • Software updates and patch management
  • License compliance and asset tracking
  • Moving, setting up, and connecting equipment
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • Phone system adds, moves, and changes
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned
Required Skills and knowledge:
  • Windows Server 2008/2012 and services
  • Hyper-V and failover clusters
  • Exchange 2010 installation, configuration, and administration
  • Hands-on Network implementation, including VLANs, switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Internet technologies: domain, email, hosting, DNS zone management, certificates
  • Active Directory and Group Policies administration
  • Windows 7/8 and Microsoft Office 2010/2013
  • Server and desktop hardware configuration, troubleshooting and repair
Additional Skills and knowledge:
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX or GP administration
  • Powershell/scripting
  • SQL Server 2012 installation, configuration, and administration
  • PCI compliance
  • iSCSI SAN
  • Linux
  • Mac OS
Education/Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years relevant experience
