Once upon a time, Jameco had a clock kit based on the now obsolete MM5314N clock chip. Rather than track down those hard to find components, we decided to make develop a clock kit around more common components. We made an 8-digit LED clock that is based on a DS1307Real Time Clock (RTC) and has a battery backup to keep time in the event power is lost. A header is provided for future upgrade to a more accurate DS3231 RTC.
Wouldn't it be a great idea if you could add other functions in the future? With large prototyping space, you can easily add your own features like a count down timer, GPS time sync, alarms and more. The source code is provided so you can tweak the features and display. The kit is developed around the ATmega328 which means you can treat it like an Arduino Uno when uploading code.

NOTE: The libraries and code were written using Arduino IDE v1.0.6. The code will not compile in the newer version 1.6. USB/Serial device required to program (not included, use 2152340 or 2117341). Be sure to download the Additional Files (.zip) archive that contains the libraries and main Clock sketch.
