This circuit drives 3 LEDs (red, green, and blue) to get a soft and smooth color transition from red to violet. With five changing speeds, you can enjoy a colorful show and the random scheme avoids the boring predictable color switching. A PIC microcontroller is used to generate three different PWM (pulse width modulation) signals. These make the LEDs switch between on and off, changing the time the LEDs are on at a high enough speed that will make the human eye see a change in the brightness of the LEDs.
