Sound Sensor

The sound sensor is just a simple microphone. By using the power amplifier LM386 and the electret microphone, it can be used to detect the sound strength (volume units) of your surroundings. The sensitivity/value of output can be adjusted by the potentiometer. Sample code is available in the "Additional Files" archive above.Use the 20cm 4-pin cable (5 pack, sold separately) to connect to Arduino or Grove modules.

  • Wide supply voltage range: 4V-12V (5V typical)
  • Operating current @ 5V: 4 - 8mA
  • Low quiescent current drain: 4mA
  • Voltage gain(VS=6V, f=1 kHz): 26dB
  • Microphone sensitivity (1kHz): 52-48dB
  • Microphone impedance: 2.2KΩ
  • Gain adjustable
  • Microphone frequency: 20Hz - 16KHz
  • Microphone S/N ratio: 54dB

  • On-board socket header: JST B4B-PH-K-S
  • Compatible mating connector: JST PHR-4
