Overview

The VPL16-300 is a 5 VA chassis mount leaded power transformer from Triad's World Series™ line, designed for dual-mains compatibility at 115 V and 230 V on 50/60 Hz systems. The secondary winding supports two configurable output options: 16.0 V at 0.310 A with center tap in series, or 8.00 V at 0.620 A with center tap in parallel. This flexibility suits low-power applications requiring either a higher-voltage/lower-current or lower-voltage/higher-current supply from a single transformer, with the center tap enabling half-wave or full-wave rectified configurations.

The VPL16-300 uses European style split bobbin construction, which reduces interwinding capacitance and eliminates the need for a separate electrostatic shield. The transformer provides 3,500 V isolation between primary and secondary and a 6 mm creepage distance, meeting international safety agency standards. This makes it well suited for equipment intended for global markets where both IEC and North American mains voltages may be encountered. Safety compliance covers UL (File E65390) Class 2/3 and TUV recognitions.
