Overview

The Triad VPS16-5000 is a chassis mount, quick-connect World Series™ power transformer rated at 80 VA. It accepts a primary input of 115 V or 230 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, making it suitable for both domestic and international applications. The secondary winding is configurable: wired in series it delivers 16.0 V CT at 5.0 A, and wired in parallel it delivers 8.0 V at 10.0 A, supporting a range of low-voltage power supply designs including center-tapped full-wave rectifier circuits.

The dual bobbin construction positions the primary and secondary coils inside an insulating shroud built from UL-approved high-temperature material. This configuration results in minimal inter-winding capacitance, eliminating the need for electrostatic shielding. Both the primary and secondary coils are electrically isolated from each other and from the core. The transformer has been hi-pot tested at 4,000 VRMS, confirming robust dielectric integrity for safety-critical designs. Compliance with CSA, IEC, TUV, and UL requirements supports use in equipment destined for multiple international markets.

The Triad VPS16-5000 is designed for chassis mounting, with a mounting footprint of 2 in x 2¼ in and 13/64 x 3/8 in mounting holes, and an overall envelope of 3 in (H) x 2½ in (W) x 2 5/16 in (D). Connections are made via quick-connect terminations.
