The VPS20-6500 is a 130 VA chassis-mount power transformer in Triad's World Series™ line, designed for applications requiring dual-voltage primary operation and flexible secondary output configurations. The primary accepts 115 V or 230 V at 50 or 60 Hz, making it suitable for international deployment. The secondary is configurable as a center-tapped 20 V at 6.5 A (series) or 10 V at 13.0 A (parallel), supporting rectifier and power supply designs where either split-rail or high-current single-rail outputs are needed. The unit is hi-pot tested at 4 kVRMS.
The World Series design addresses global regulatory requirements, engineered to meet CSA, IEC, TUV, and UL standards. The dual bobbin construction, housed within an insulating shroud made from UL-approved high-temperature material, minimizes capacitive coupling between primary and secondary windings. This eliminates the need for a discrete electrostatic shield while maintaining full electrical isolation between both coils and the core. The design makes this transformer well suited for equipment destined for multiple markets without requiring hardware redesign.
For installation, the VPS20-6500 uses quick-connect terminations and mounts to a chassis via a 2 1/4 in x 2 1/2 in bolt pattern with 13/64 x 3/8 in mounting holes. Overall dimensions are 3 3/8 in (H) x 2 13/16 in (W) x 2 11/16 in (D) with a weight of 4.10 lb. Note that both primary and secondary coils must be used simultaneously regardless of whether series or parallel wiring is selected; verify that the chosen secondary configuration matches load current requirements before finalizing the design.
