The Triad Magnetics N-90MD is a hospital-grade isolation power transformer rated at 250 VA, designed to isolate equipment from direct connection to the AC power line. It accepts a 115 V primary at 50 or 60 Hz and delivers 115 V (±5%) on the secondary at up to 2.17 A RMS. The MD designation indicates the unit is designed and constructed to meet the low leakage current requirements of today's medical equipment environments.
The N-90MD meets the electrical safety demands of medical settings through its non-concentrically wound coil construction, in which the primary and secondary windings are wound on separate arbors and assembled on a laminate core side-by-side, separated by insulation. This configuration prevents electrical connection between primary and secondary under both normal and overload conditions. Leakage current from primary to secondary is rated at less than 50 µA and is typically measured at less than 10 µA - a critical parameter for patient-contact and patient-vicinity equipment. A resettable circuit breaker is included, providing protection from overload and short circuit conditions without requiring fuse replacement.
The N-90MD uses a Case Type M enclosure and connects via a 6-foot cord with plug and socket circuit breaker; the line cord, plug, and receptacle are U.L. listed and verified to meet federal specifications. The transformer has been hi-pot tested at 1,500 V RMS. Physical dimensions are 4 5/8 in (H) x 3 7/8 in (W) x 6 1/8 in (D), with mounting hole dimensions of 3/8 x 3/16 in and a weight of 11.90 lb. Confirm that the required load does not exceed 250 VA, that the installation's mounting provisions are compatible, and that the leakage current rating satisfies the applicable medical equipment safety standard for the intended use environment.
